» The 2018 Legislative Session Is Starting

The 2018 Legislative Session is starting…time to address issues that concern you!

The Maryland General Assembly convenes on January 10, 2018 and runs through April 9, 2018 for 90 days. Already, the Maryland State Senate has pre-filed 114 bills and the House has pre-filed 70 as of December 13, 2017. As many as 2500 bills can be filed during the session. Because there are very specific guidelines and timelines for each bill’s processing, it is imperative to jump on the review process early to establish your support / opposition to any bills, assess the potential impact on our communities and state and plan efforts to respectfully express support/opposition.

The Maryland General Assembly Leadership, Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr. and House Speaker Michael E. Busch, have issued a welcome letter in which they denote the composition of the General Assembly. Also, their note extends an invitation to become familiar with the website and the legislative process. As they state in their message to us, “As the presiding officers of the Maryland General Assembly, we value your input into the many critical issues before the legislature, many of which can affect our lives as Maryland citizens for many years to come.” Visiting now will provide a proactive jump start to any 2018 state efforts.
