Call your Maryland State Senator before Wednesday, February 28, 2018 asking them to support SB 1036. If you get voicemail, be sure to leave your name, address and your support for SB 1036 in order for your call to be counted.
Issue: Protect Victims of Domestic Violence. Guns and domestic violence are a deadly combination. A dangerous gap in Maryland law makes it too easy for convicted abusers to access guns, even though they are legally prohibited from having them. The General Assembly should act to protect victims of domestic violence by requiring that domestic abusers who are not allowed to possess firearms turn in their guns when they become legally prohibited from having them.
Significance of Action: Senate Bill 1036 will save Marylanders’ lives by creating a formal process to disarm convicted domestic abusers (http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/webmga/frmMain.aspx?stab=01&pid=billpage&tab=subject3&ys=2018rs&id=SB1036).
