Native Bee Talk

June 29 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm EDT

Annapolis Cafe Scientifique

Last Thursday of June, June 29, at 6pm at 49 West, downtown Annapolis

Title: Native Bees – The Hidden 430 Species you Know Nothing About.
Speaker: Sam Droege, U.S. Geological Survey

Abstract: Yup, there is more to the bee world than the honey bee. In addition to carpenter bees (Note: tricks on managing your carpenter bees will be revealed) and bumble bees (15 species known from Maryland!), there are several hundred additional species in Maryland, many of which live right in downtown Annapolis. Sam will discuss why stinging/allergies is not a native bee thing, how to manage your estate or porch to attract native bees, thrill you with ultra closeup photographs, and talk about the intimate and specialized relationship native bees have with native plants.
